Tulum Airport to be Completed Ahead Of Schedule According To Mexico’s President

The new Tulum International Airport that is currently being built will be another great option for travelers who visit the Mexican Caribbean and of course the city itself. It will also take some pressure off the super busy Cancun International Airport, which manages more than 500 operations a day on average.

While the Tulum Airport was originally looking at a 2024 opening, Mexico’s president recently announced that the project would be completed ahead of schedule.

When You Can Expect Tulum Airport To Begin Operations

The original completion date for the Tulum Airport was said to be sometime in 2024. But a recent update from Mexico’s president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, now points to it being completed this year. Now he is saying that completion will come at the same time that the huge Maya Train project will be completed, which is December 2023.

About Tulum Airport

The building of Tulum Airport, also known as Felipe Carrillo Puerto, is a mega project that will span nearly 3,000 acres. It will be a combined civil/military airport and will be part of a larger military city that will include multiple buildings, including a building for boarding lounges and a passenger terminal.

Roads, parking lots and/or structures, and a control tower are all part of the project as well, as are the typical buildings and structures you see on a military base.

Thanks
